SALE!!!!! HOLIDAY SAAAAALE!!!!!

Ugh, one of my personal secrets is post-holiday SALE shopping. I absolutely CANNOT REFUSE a good sale. Mostly for regular items that I don't want to pay full price to have. Basically every holiday that involves buying crap will have all of that needed crap RIDICULOUSLY MARKED DOWN juuuuuuust after the holiday.

The other night I was at Holly's for adult game night (that'll be discussed in another post) and we had to make a midnight wine run (like you haven't ever). Holly comes out from the back of the grocery store and I have armfuls of tissue paper, gift bags, stockings, a tree skirt, boxes of gift cards, wrapping paper and boxes of cards. I'm like "uhhh, don't judge!!" The regular price of all that stuff was about $85, I spent $24. BOOM!!!

As addressed in my "Bah Humgay" post, I don't decorate for the holidays. One year I put up a mini-tree and bad things happened to it and I never bothered again. Last year my roommate got all Christmas-y and put up a nice tree (sans topper, which sort of felt like phoning it in to me). This year, did I keep up the decorating spirit? Hell no. Then, as I am walking through Target trying to buy the Game of Things and some A+D ointment, what do I spy?? A 70% OR MORE OFF WINTER WONDERLAND!! Stacks of trees, ornaments, tinsel (let's be honest - gauche) and the like. I put this photo on Instagram and admitted defeat. My love of a great sale finally beat my indifference to holiday decorating. This gorgeous 7 and one half foot prelit (did I just say "prelit"?? I sure as hell did!!) slim Virginia pine (imported directly from Virginia, Shenzhen) was orig $187, I picked it up for $56. Each box of handblown by Czech glass artists ornaments was orig $20 (ok fine they were Chinese artists. In a factory.) marked down to $6. Simple, yet classically-styled tree topper star (you HAVE to have a topper on a tree), orig $10 marked down to $3. $3!!????? Hello, by not buying these items, I was actually losing money. Get a good look because you will be seeing this tree all up in my house next year. If the FCC hasn't shut down this blog by then.

Since I do have hoarder tendencies (to be discussed in future posts), I decided I had to make room. One of my closets had a bunch of boxes from stuff and I threw it all out. Dumb, like boxes for my fancy wine opener, xbox, all my Mac accessories, game controllers, electric razor and Ninja blender (I have issues). Since we have indigents who rifle through our bins and I didn't want all those boxes sitting out there, I let my alarm wake me up on my day off so I could run outside to stuff my bins and have them picked up same day (today is trash/recycling day). Why am I so weird. Don't answer that. Ok, go ahead.
